Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

just put eggs under the boodys.
the little red hen took off running and screaming when i went to pick her up. hopefully she goes back on her nest..

check on my ducks and my little dark snowy hen is limping =/
i hope shes ok. i caught her and picked her up. dont c no blood. no bumble foot. so cuts.
her leg felt ok.
so i think and hope she just stoved it up or has a cramp or something.
she was fine earlier.

I don't blame you. A good mixer is (almost) better than a good man! Having both is heaven... okay, having a good man, a good mixer and ducks is heaven!

Great news the little duckling that was rejected got accepted by mama this morning and the little duckling has 8 other hatching's to keep him company and more still hatching! I'm so glad mama Scobie came to her senses I was worried about this first time mama! I saw some Lavender and blues in this clutch I'm excited so see more once they are all hatched! yay! what a lucky St. Patty's Day!

(The "reject duckling" is saying hi to his mama for the first time, he is by her bill)

(So happy!!!! I love baby Scobies)

YAY!!!!

Love the new ducky mama pic!

CG: sounds like you got a lot done! I'm pretty sure I have a broody RIR, but I don't trust her. She's flighty. I don't think they make good mama's. Anybody have thoughts on that?

Fiona isn't getting any signs of feathers yet. And I'm so excited for her to get them. I let her out with me to feed the chickens and she was following me EVERYWHERE. My neighbor got a kick out of that. She said, "That duck thinks your mama!" (Yes, I was laughing.) My neighbor is 70+ so she loves the 2 eggs I gave her yesterday.

grandma still thinks im lying that you put eggs in from the fridge and they are hatching.
she says its not possible.
im about to put some in there just to prove her wrong!
itd be my luck they wouldnt develope lol.

I've heard that fridge eggs will hatch, but only if they're less than a week old. I've been kicking around the idea of stuffing the bator full.

I didn't think they'd develop, just because they were in the fridge and over 2 weeks old.

Guess people have hatched chicks from trader joes, but I didn't think all 4 would make it this far. I was expecting 1-2.

Exactly. I think I want to try this just because.
