Hey guys. Something got my drake Edward last night. I think it was a fox.
I'm guessing fox because of the lack of evidence I found. I found the girls in the window well and that's when I knew something was wrong. He sacrificed himself while the girls got away.
RIP Edward.

Here's a snippet of this morning's conversation with me 8 yr old:
Me: Edward is missing. I think something got him.
Her: Oh that makes me sad. We used to play tag all the time.
Me: That wasn't tag. That was him trying to attack you.
Her: Oh.
So I wasn't crazy sad when I found the little tuft of feathers. He was always trying to get me. One time he flew at my face. Weirdo.
Anyhoo- That's awesome that your dad is moving to where he's getting a pond!! How awesome!

I know right. I'm going to go investigate where I know this fox lives and see what I find. Have to wait til the girls take a nap. But it's my own fault. I didn't put them up last night. They were so happy just chillin'. So I let them spend the night in their special place.
Keep in mind: I live in the city. This fox had to jump my chain link fence. Not to mention I'm in a neighborhood. Motion lights and porch lights everywhere. It was also the first night I let the dog sleep inside. So he wasn't there to deter the fox.
The one and only time I do that... This fox was just waiting for it's chance. Smart little boogers.
