Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I just received my latest shipment of eggs.... 14 saxonies and 10 silver apples. I don't know if I am

or if I look more like this:

LOL! Good, because I feel both ways about hatching more eggs. However, if the silver apples and saxonies are anything like my precious new baby, I'll be stoked to have a bunch hatch! By the way, the silver apple eggs I got are so varying. A few are HUGE and then others are small and hard to tell which is the fat end. Should be interesting to see how they develop.

As soon as I move my goose eggs over to hatcher by tomorrow morning, my cooking bator will have plenty of room.

sooooo cute

I'm Paulla by the way.

What type are your hatching goose eggs? And are you doing them in the LG? If so did you also use the turner?

I would really like to get my Roman Tufted a mate...

Also are the male geese as loud as the female ones... or are they like the male / female ducks?
Males are loud and the girls egg them on to be noisier!!!

Here are my first 7 babies this morning. I am happily surprised I hatched more colors than b/w and that all are so healthy!!

such pretties make staying up worth it!

EE chicks. I'm loving the first one with that big fluffy beard and muffs.

She might be staying, as long as she is a she.

I need some of those...... probally next year I want more different colors when I collect eggs

That's amazing about your goslings. Mine are only a week younger, but are much smaller and still babyish.

It's official, I'm in LOVE with my silver apple.

I swapped out the paper towels with a dish towel, set some mash/water in it, and the sweet thing insisted on crawling into my hand to take a nap. I think I may have to raise these two separately in a special brooder in my office.

AWWWW love it when we are not the big monsters!

Here is a pic of my youngsters. 1 of these is 3 months old and the others are all 2 months. I'm really happy with the way the markings are coming along on these guys. My breeding goals are more to the lighter marked ducks with lots and lots of spots vs the heavy marked ducks with large patches of color. I still have some little things to correct with this generation, but I'm getting closer to my breeding goals.

Dalmation ducks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH HONEY i'm gonna need some of those!

Oh you're kidding. These turkeys I've got are making me nervous. I've never done turkeys before.

QJ, you and Julie get good at it so you can help when I get some!

They are so cute! I was surprised at the different colors I got, too. I was expecting all black and chocolate with maybe a couple lighter colors.

Iain, vet wrap is what I prefer. Doesn't damage feathers. I tuck the wing tip into place and roll the vet wrap around the wing, then lay the wrapped wing against the body and wrap the vet wrap around the body. Give me a few I can show you.

Julie, the first could be from our black split to Lav or Lav Ameracuana hens that are running around here. She appears very silvery in the pic which makes me think atleast 1 Lav parent.

Here is a picture of my Bugaboo, my angelwing drake. He turned 5 weeks old yesterday. May I please get detailed instructions on how to wrap it? Thanks!!
