Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Here is a pic of the goose I just pipped. His shell had yellow water in it. Ugh. It poured out when I pipped him. It stained everything. He's fairly active, not loud though. Lifts his head, opens his eyes, had actually moved around a bit in his shell, but isn't headed out just yet. He's a kiss late.

Any thoughts ya'll?

OK, thanks Marty! Don't get to upset, but I havn't fed my WH in 2 weeks! They free range all day. I havn't fed them in 2 weeks, and I STILL get 1 eggs from each hen a day. Even when I feed them, they stick their noises up, and walk away!! Silly ducks! lol. I havn't fed the rouens either for a while! They free range in the goat pasture that has a running creek with small fish in it, those 3 are fed very well!!

Of course I'm going to feed them in the colder months, but for spring 'n' summer... I think I'm set. What do you think? The runners will be in the goat pasture, and chicken pen. I'm getting some buff and khaki runners from sand hill next year. & I'm getting some runner eggs from quackrrs!!
I think if they are happily foraging, I'd just offer them food when you lock them up at night. Eating it is optional, of course. Most ducks (not pekings really) can do a lot of self feeding spring, summer, and fall.

Hey Marty!!

My little Arty looked like that!! he had the strength to pip himself though, thennhe shrink wraped. I kinda helped his head out, and he did the rest. What breed is this goosie???

I would wrap him in a soaking wet hot washcloth & let him just hang out in the shell, & re wet it when it dries

He is a giant toulouse. Glad he did ok. Makes me fill better. Geese aren't like ducks at all.

Im so stressed, I really feell ill. OF course, seeing all those beautiful dead perfect little turkeys didn't help any.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not a goose hatcher, and I could use a little back up here.

Should I peek at the sebs? They are on day 28 today. I've had mega shrink wrap issues today and apparently yesterday, even in a bator above 75%. Its at like 83% now. I just don't ever want to open as many shells w/dead youngsters as I did today again.

I'm done trying to hatch shipped turkeys. They trouble isn't them, its me, but I'm still not a happy camper. I just want a nice flock of heritage turkeys. If I don't get chocolates, I'm gonna sell me hens. I just didn't want hatchery stock. Darn it darn it darn it. My tranquility is shot.

32, if you allow 6' per bird.

Ok, we're close then. I was thinking 40 to 45ish. Which I only have about 20 to put in there.. and I want to store some of my ducks in there too for awhile till the feather out more. I want to make my chicken pen at my house here the Sebbie House.

Marty, question. How much do you feed all your ducks everyday? I'm trying to get a idea of how many ducks i can have. I REALLY want 6 - 8 runners, but i also want to have 8 WH. How much would you feed 16 light weight ducks??

QJ! You wouldn't be interested in my blue ancona drake, and black magpie hen, would you?? My ancona drake is breeding any hen he can get ahold of. I heard your drake wasn't interested in the hens...? Maybe I'm wrong...

Oh DG why do you tempt me with such offers? NO NO NO. I can't.

3 babie left to hatch
yay!!! Pics when the fluff. Any pastels yet? Or are they all looking dark still.
