All the air cells in the eggs are odd shaped. The one I videoed had the big air cell up top and then another circle attached to the side of it. The air cells are BIG. I have 5 out of 7 moving like that.

I would put the humidity up to 70 at this point. It'd be good to avoid more moisture loss if the air cell looks larger than it should at that stage.

Here's that diagram again...

Having looked at my diagram there, the air cell should be pretty huge.... So maybe they are alright. How do the eggs compare to the diagram, SM (estimating total air space including funny extra bit on the side).

70%cocoa :

I do agree that the air cell is big on SM's eggs. Time to crank up the humidity?

The humidity is between 77 and 80 now. I don't want to drown the poor things. How much higher should I go?

I would say on some of the eggs, including the one in the video, the air cell is just a little bigger than the 26-27 day and they still have a week to go.

I have one due the same as you on the 14th SM. And it looks to be doing pretty good. The other little egg I put in, I forgot to write the date down... so it will be a surprise.

My Buff has 9 eggs in a nest right now. Its weird because the Cayuga will go lay eggs in the nest, she has 5 or 6 eggs in the nest, but she won't sit on it at all. The Buff lays eggs there too and then she sits on them at night only. She turns the eggs and covers them up in the morning though.

Thats right you found that one egg to put in with mine. How does it look inside? I am a candling fanatic. I candle everyday. I just love to see the changes in them and the movement like that one I took the video of.

The one egg I found is looking full. HA!

But I found another egg the day after Edward died. I just happened to check. I didn't know if it would do anything because it was old and covered in mud. It's veining really good. I hope it's a boy. I will name it Edward the second.

But I still plan on getting a new mallard in the spring. (And naming it Jacob.)
