Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

What has me worried is that there is still bleeding 3 hours later. If it were my dogs or horses, I'd be trekking them to the vet for a shaving of area, proper cleaning and surface antibiotics. If this were one of my dewlaps, I'd already be at the vet's. But my husband is looking at me like I've completely lost my mind to be talking this way about one of the africans.

But, I'll go talk to the neighbors now.

i hope your baby is ok!

Talked to neighbors. Again, I want to emphasize they are great people and have chickens themselves. The lady came over and carefully examined puncture with me and immediately offered to pay all costs for treatment. I am on hold with emergency clinic as they try to find a vet on call that can treat No. 1.

I would just suggest some electrolytes or even some diluted small amount of Antibiotic in the water. But thats what I would do, but I am probally wrong

That is what I would do if it were a predator attack. I know this may seem crappy to some, but I think the owners of the dog should pay for vet care. I like to treat my own animals, but given the opportunity to have vet care, I would go for it.
He is definitely punctured underside by leg and still bleeding. He was resting in corner of pen and I disturbed him just now. When he got up, there is a quarter sized area of blood on shavings. Not sure if I should attempt first aid or go inform neighbors that I should take bird to vet, but it will most certainly cost a few hundred dollars on a holiday weekend.

I'm sorry about Crumpet.

Please take it easy and get better soon! There's a nasty bronchitis going around my neck of the woods.

That's the kind of neighbors we all wish we had, those who take accountability for their mistakes. I hope No. 1 is feeling better soon!

and glad to hear about people stepping up and taking responsibility

Jeez.....

I just bought the standard of perfection book for birds on my kindle, and went to ducks, and they don't have Welsh Harlequins in there! Ahh! Or american geese... So kinda upset right now.... Then went to a website on the internest that told me EVERYTHING I needed to know about judging my own ducks! Made me quite upset. Luckily it was only $8 bucks, but still, COME ON!
