Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Thanks, guys. He looks very content this evening, watching over the babies and sleeping on his pillow.

Quackers, great idea for an angel wing wrap!

Jaz, those are awesome looking birds!! Can't wait to see what hatches!

Dutch, so sorry to hear about butters. You did your best for him. Great news that all your dewlaps are doing well. I was surprised that no. 1 weighed 10.6 pounds. He is 14 weeks old. I figure barley weighs almost half that at 5 weeks.

GQ, nothing major, some wind and rain.

we have till November for these to roll through.
Glad it was nothing major.
Utah...so glad to hear #1 is well, and that you have such awesome neighbors. If only more people were like that.....

Bakin...sorry you're sick...you been kissing on Goin? Hope you both feel better soon.....and so sorry about Crumpet.

Goin....nice drake! I can't wait for my son's blue Runners to get all of their feathers in....I love their color.

Celtic....hope you and the critters make it through the storm safely.

Jaz....those aren't birds, that's eye candy

Well...little Butters died this afternoon. He was failing to thrive, and I couldn't kick the eye infection. I was babying him all the time, but could tell the last couple of days that it wasn't going to help. Oh well......
The 2 latest babies, a BF and a grey, are doing well. The Crew (dewlaps) are doing wonderful...growing like weeds! Simon is so big! But, he doesn't feel like he weighs that much. I think it's all that loose flesh he's got that makes him look heavier than he really is, lol.
Son's blue Runners are just ducky.
Need to check hatching records and see what I've got due to hatch next!
No kissy-kissin smoochies going on here. Since I'm sick, I don't even get smoochies from hubby. I keep telling him that sharing is caring.

I'm sorry about Butters. You gave him the best care you could.

Thanks. I saw it online somewhere and it just stuck with me. It's so hard to keep any kind of wrapping on waterfowl.

Iain, Its good that your #1 is doing better. My little white Seb is also doing well, except he/she is more afraid than my others. I am still on graveyards (at work now), so haven't had much time to interact with her. The other Sebs are doing well except for the lameness issue that keeps reoccuring. My 2 remaining dewlaps are doing great. Carole is going to send me 4 new baby greys on Tuesday. I have to wait til next year to get any Buffs from her. Did she send your new baby buffs yet? It seems kind of strange to call you by your BYC user name instead of your real name, but I guess that's why you have a user name. Anyway, holler back if you have time. I'll be up, lol!

Hey Shannon! Glad to see you found this thread aka chat room. :D

Definitely been a long and stressful day with my African being hurt. He is my favorite of my Africans and glad he will be ok, if he does not necessarily feel that way right now. At least it's nice having him next to spirit's pen so I am spending a lot of time with him.

Glad your sebbie is doing well. You will have plenty of time to bond with her once your next long weekend gets here. Bummer about the buffs, but I am sure you will love her grey babies. She is shipping my buffs on Tuesday. I assume she will send out your babies at the same time? If so, we can track our precious packages and stress over their safe arrival together. She has been giving me daily updates by email on my buffs for the past week. She said she was treating them extra special for me. Love her, she is so sweet.

Weird on the recurring lameness issue. I wonder if you should keep her penned and give her swim therapy for a few days to see if it helps? Perhaps also if you can describe it better on the thread, someone with more experience, like Celtic, may offer a better suggestion.

Eta... And by all means, call me by my name. It is actually a little weird to be called my husband's name. ;)

I'd like to know how much Simon weighs. I picked him up yesterday and was suprised he didn't feel that heavy. I told him today I was gonna make him some suspenders to keep his pants pulled up

So sorry dutch about butters... :(.... How many do you have now???

Iain. glad no. 1 is ok!!
I have hatched 3 grey, 4 blue fawn, 1 pastel and 3 butterscotch. I've lost just the one. Have more eggs under a broody.

Get him, and I'll send you the zorse mare and you can hatch babies, and sell eggs!

I love the keels! My other grey boy, who I have named tank, already has defined keels at 2 weeks old! I have a feeling he is going to be one big chunky monkey when he grows up.

For weighing, you can always pick him up and stand on scale. Hubby weighs our dogs that way. He's 4 weeks, right? My bet is he only weighs 4 lbs.
