Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Marty, I was wondering the same thing! I see chicken crazy, DG, Quacker Jack and country girl's names online but they don't come to this thread anymore. Julie's been around, but not much. SM is not online at all that I know of.

Dutch, I think she still needs it off at least part of the day to continue to build callous as well as allow for growth, but yep it is loosely wrapped and should have good airflow. The other foot is also deformed and her toes curl inward. It is amazing how she has made it through the first 30 days of life. And thanks for the compliment!! I choose to have pets for kids instead of kids and my dewlaps are my pets. So, I will do for them what needs to be done, just like I do for my horses, dogs and cats. Can't say I'd run a duck off to a vet for help, though.

I think that some said they felt like the thread was taken over (but I havn't figured out by whom just yet) and others are just off with their other interests.

I'm having another go at the giant pekings. They are by far the hardest darn birds to hatch that I've had pass through my hands. 26 eggs, one duck. As for not taking a duck to the vet, just wait until one you love needs you.

Hello, I have been raising my pride n joy BlockHeadRed Golden Retrievers ~ will post pics of my 3 new babies !

My pooches are family but I am also a Reputable Breeder. So I look for the best of the best ~ and do not settle for anything but. So I have these 3 girls which are STUNNING!! So currently I have 3 retired pooches, 2 girls, and now my 3 pups.
UTAH ~ as long as you have the love, companionship 4 is definately not excessive ~ but then you are talking to me with 8 pooches!
I would buy them

cough cough ....
Allergic to seafood.... I wonder what you did in your past life to deserve that injustice

Was probably a fisherman in a past life. Love the smell of smoking salmon, but if I get close to it, things get reeeal ugly. I have to wear rubber kitchen gloves to handle fish fertilizer.

I know they are not as big as I would like, but maybe I can put in a 2nd ??

NOW this is my second pond in my other area which we are keeping above ground

There 2 covered shelters they are 4' x 6' each with UV roofs

Playing in the pond
They are a-ma-zing!

We have 2 pump systems ~ submersible to drain & then we will use the hose from the pump when draining to water my trees & plants, & I can pump river water to our 2 ponds. Still new to this & will learn as I go ~ good thing I have a maintenance tech as a hubby! he will be building me all kinds of tweeked gadgets ! I am really happy with how they turned out so far

Thanx all! It was fun to build, and even more to watch them doing ZOOMIES !! The slope isn't completely done, I would like to put a few decorative stepping stones. The slope stones were only $1.07 each so it actually wasn't bad at all. The river rock was only $18 for a truckload. & I got to utilize a junk tire

Wow, where did everyone who used to post here go, anyway?
Here. Late to the party as always! How are you Marty?

Marty, what do you have hatching?

Speaking of hatching, HEY JAZ!!!! How are your fancy eggs and your own cayuga stock eggs doing??
Yes. We demand an update!

Do yourself a favor and avoid trying to hatch silkie ducks.

OK, that'll be easy! I don't want any useless ducks around anyway. I've got enough freeloaders, but its almost time to dress ducks.

Yep.

SM isn't on much, Quacker jack and Duck Girl stopped coming, Julie isn't around much, Celtic DH is ill, but I think mostly folks come on when their bators are full. I'm still hatching things, but I guess most everyone else (with a few exceptions) is done for now.
I was MIA for a bit....lots of stress and such. I finished off what was in the bators, but just set 13 Call eggs under my blue fawn hens yesterday. I'm collecting another batch to set next week.

She is definitely a miracle goose, no doubt. She is obviously meant to be here. And I know what you mean about kids/pets. My pets are as much my kids, as my kids are. That's where my BF and I don't see eye to eye. I was raised that our dogs were family members. I'm still grieving for my horse, but it's eased up a lot. Sandy is doing a good job with that. She has really warmed up to me! I just came back from a long ride down the county road and back. She is just fabulous! We stopped in at my mother's so she could help me alter some tack to better fit Sandy. We ended up coming home in the dark, lol. At least she's easy to see in the dark...I was wearing black jeans and a black tee

Oh...and Utah....haven't received an email reply from Carole yet. I have no idea if she shipped them yesterday or not. I guess I'll get a call around 6-7am in the morning, if she did.

Wow, where did everyone who used to post here go, anyway?
we've been busy and Jerry's been over doin things and that translates into short nights for both of us. I've got 15 out of 18 eggs in the bator 14 Sumatra and one cochin that was added as an extra...... i'm trying to wait till I have 6 or 7 to put the next batch in... hard with only one of the 3 hens laying

I do get on and read how things are going and I keep Jerry updated. We'll both be on a lot more when it gets cold outside.

everyone!

Ok...I see...not wrapping the whole foot. That shouldn't pose an issue with airflow, then. So basically, you are giving her traction, and a little support. It looks like her other foot isn't flat like it should be? Compensating for the bad one? I just can't believe she is doing so well, with such a deformity. I'm glad she was hatched to you, because most people would have put her down. You are an awesome critter mommy!
bow.gif

My special girl, Maddie, has learned to work around her bill deformity and can graze on her own now. She eats feed sideways, though. And is mentally slow, and often times, off on her own. She doesn't pay attention to the rest of the gang real well. It's almost like she has Down's Syndrome....happy in her own little world.
Hope she's like kids with Down Syndrome... friends with everyone

Forgot to mention that the hatching eggs marked "skunk oil" arrived today. The postal lady was about to force them into the mailbox when hubby intercepted her. She made some comment about hazmat... yet she was going to stuff them in the box. WTFlock?

Will update the skunk egg saga again in about 10 days when I candle and remove clears.

Yaaaa!, My mystrey eggs from the Zoo are hatching! All 4 pipped yesterday afternoon. Tonight when I got up, I hhave 4 duckys and one still working. I bought an older Hova still air to hatch in and they are in it with the humidity about 70%. How are they ever going to dry with the humidity so high? I was going to move my chicks from my ReptiPro in there to dry, but I guess I'll wait till everyone is out. They look like baby ducks, I'm still guessing they are mixes since the eggs were bigger and tinted green, not the small darker green I usually see from the Mallards. They seem healthy and strong, thats the main thing. Fun to watch them grow up.

Hi everyone! I have 38 eggs in the incubator. I just put them in on the 10th so still too early. Two are eggs that my hen abandoned mid way through one looks good but i'm not sure on the other, it has some shading in the middle but I can't tell if it smells bad cause I have a cold.

Careful with those questionable eggs. Did you candle? Hope you have a great hatch!
