Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Jaz, Funny posts!!! Hahahaha!!! Yeppers, my obnoxious gander's name is Ebay. Here's the irony....Ebay is the 1st ever gosling I hatched and he is actually from Celtic's eggs. But I mixed him up at birth with No. 1, who is from eggs I bought off ebay. By the time I realized I had them mixed up, the names had already stuck. Oh well.

Here is the latest on Piper (my buff dewlap gander). He has a soft tissue injury in his hip. He is prescribed .5 cc 2x per day and rest for the next 7 days. He should be just fine. And my oh my he was a hit at the clinic. It took me almost an hour to leave lobby since everyone who worked there had to pet him and say goodbye to him, and comment how he is the nicest goose they had ever met.

Jaz....it looks like black sand in the pics? I'm not on a coast, LOL. I'm in the middle of the country, and here the rivers and lakes either have rocks, or mud. Not really any sand. Well, except for the Arkansas river, but it's nasty so you don't want to swim in it.

Utah...glad Piper is just bruised!

QJ...yay! A buyer that quick?!

Thanks Sue, the 14 yr old is a huge help from laundry to chores to fencing and even cooking. He will step up anywhere something needs done. Heck he even helps with diapers too. Great kid and I don't know what I would do without him. Just finished chores, time for breakfast people pool time and lunch then nap for the mini person so I can hit the hospital.
I have one of those wonderful sons.... the middle child but oldest boy he's 22 now and lives in our old house. I can always count on the 3 kids to come out when ever I need help all I have to do is ask

Morning all, super late start to my day after not stopping until after 10 last night. Hubby is back in the hospital, met with his new team of Doctors yesterday and his admitting DR seems committed to finding an answer. Thanks for the well wishes.
Iain, hope the buff boy recovers, he may need lots of restricted rest/quiet time to heal up. Warm swims are always easy on stress injuries.
Dutch, glad the new goslings arrived ok. Male Africans are just always more vocal from what I have seen. My gander doesn't care for anyone but me, so they are rear pasture birds most of the time.

Praying that the new docs find the answer to your hubby's ailments!
I have found some really great resources on training and have a couple people that answer my questions.. so I feel like I'm in "good hands" so to speak. And I got nothin' but time. lol

Utah: I think these little Cayugas are so precious. And they seem more tame than the other breeds I've had. Not spastic.

We may have our house sold. But there's a big "but" attached to it which involves us renting for 6 months. We are weighing the options. Long story.. Anyway, we might be moving soon. Like by July 1st. So I might be a little over stressed at this exact moment in time. I will know more on Sunday when the woman comes to look at the house. (that she's already decided she loves from the pics.)

I know she'll love it because I did.
I'll bet you can't wait to get your dream home!

When hubby and I got engaged and decided to get out of the city, I moved out of my condo and dragged all my junk to storage. It took 9 months for that bad investment to sell. Took the money and put down on our current slice of paradise. Took an additional 5 months to sell hubby's condo. It was essentially four moves since we moved my stuff to storage, then to the new house, hubby's stuff to the new house and then we had to come back to get the staging furniture back. Argh.

Glad Piper is going to be fine. I'm so glad you found a great vet who is so awesome!!! A good avian vet is better than diamonds!

Utah! It's busy here. Got one person out at work... and at the farm, one less farmhand turns everything into pure chaos.

But I hatched...

There are 19 total. They are for my boss and moving to the farm on Monday.

The first chicken egg pipped this evening. I'm going to be overrun by cute little fuzzies this weekend.

My dad and I had raised sheep for 15+ yrs and we went through 2 guard dogs. Our first was Possum and she was a Great Pyeranse( spellling wrong bare with me) but she had no concept of fences. One winter day she was accross the Hwy and on her return trip home she was hit by a woman who was taking her dogs to the vet. We had to put her down as her injury's were to severe. The woman was so tramatic that she wanted to pay all the vet bills but we declined. Then #2 was a cross of a GP and a Marama, she too had no concerpt of fences. They both could just our 4' and 5' fences at a sit position. Any of these dogs do have a large range that they will protect. We have 80 acres and they both would protect the next farm accross the dirst road and the farm next to us for a total of 300 acres. They both stated that they never lost a chicken, duck, rabbit, goose,or calf when we had them. Now they have to lock everthing up because of preditors. Our Crossbreed died from liver and kidney falure from someone leaving out poison. We figured it had to be done on purpose. We then tried a few other breeds and they never worked out and we ended up selling all the sheep as my mother was getting alot worse with her surgery's and MS.

Morning all.

Iain, another goose w/ health issues?!
