Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hi All. My broody Pekin hatch started on Day 32. Had first 2 not emerge and die finally had a beautiful baby hatch 3.5 days ago. So Baby is just hanging around Mom, and I've seen Baby eat flies and drink water... But no feed. Mom I had to bring feed and water very very close, she won't get off the nest. Still sitting on 15 eggs, not all are Mom's, I think. I'm worried Mom might just be too preoccupied with the nest to care for Baby. Plus I read "someplace" that late hatching is a hereditary trait, so "someone" reccommends not allowing unhatched eggs to go on too long. I wanted to ask the community's opinions on this situation. Leave it, give mom A few more days, toss the underdeveloped eggs? First time here, All advice welcome and appreciated!

Hi! I have been doing ok until yesterday night.

I just took those photos yesterday and then sometime later Keiko and Jadzia got out and flew away

. I found Keiko last night in our neighbors yard but Jadzia is still missing. They were molting so I was waiting to clip their feathers. I am trying to be optimistic that Jadzia might just fly back but I also put up missing notices on craigslist and am going to drive around the neighborhood again today.

I hope you have found Jadzia today, there is a young Muscovy duck down the road from us hanging out along the road way. I tried 2X today to get close and both times it flew down to the river, then it flies right back up along the road.

I would love to catch it and bring it home since walking along the road is very dangerous to ones health. It flew off to the river both times I stopped then my son went out and said it was back up by the road. We can't figure out why it wants to hang by the road. It's a young duck and I think a female.We rescued 3 ducks from down at the river some yrs back but they were on our road side of the river much easier to work with, any idea?

I have a feeling this is why this little one is down on the road, someone is probably looking for her right now, she is blue and white. I hope you can find Jadzia or she turns up at someones home. I can't get close enough to put anything over her and the road is busy so I was afraid to get too close in case she went the opposite way into the road. I clip all my Muscovies wings just because if they fly away I don't think they could find their way back we're so wooded. I hope you find yours safe and sound.
