Hello, Walter!
They pip, then they rest. Then you worry. Then when you're about to give up, they hatch.Remind me what the normal hatch progression is...
Hatch day is supposed to be Weds here. Eggs started pipping last night, and more have pipped throughout the day, but none have progressed any farther than that. Shouldn't there at least be peeping or rocking or something?
I incubated a bunch of eggs last year, too, so you'd think I'd remember some of it, but I really don't. Thought the peeping had come before the pips last time around.
Getting worried because there are a couple of eggs where the shell is loose where they pipped and the membrane looks dry - but I don't recall ever seeing membranes last time that looked any different than that, either!
Welcome, babies!
Aww Han they are gorgeous, as soon as they are dry they can go in the brooder. X x x x
A few of mine last year were assisted, (6 out of my 7) it was a terrible hatch and they still had yolk sacs outside their tummies and made it. Got called back to school as one of the teachers thought she was dying but shed pulled away from the shell completely and was just lying very still which I know is normal. I had a quick look as when she heard my voice she got straight up and cheeped but had to take her out for a peek to see if she was still bleeding as couldn't see. Blood vessel was dry and only a little hanging on. Hole to tummy was open but closing up so have everything crossed for little Betty xWill keep my fingers and toes crossed for you. Should be ok, one of mine was like that. I miss duckling cuddles. Mine are teenagers now I reckon and it's not cool to have cuddles anymore lol.
