Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I am going to wait for others to comment, but from how I see the photos that does not look like an external pip.
The baby in that egg is moving?
Are you able to see the darker spot in normal lighting without candling?

How exciting about the internal pips. Did the "holy one" pip yet?

Yes it's moving all over the place. Nope only when I candle do I see it. And it wasn't there the other night just last night. I haven't candled today so I don't know what's going on with that spot. The "holy one" has not pipped. If it's the same as the other eggs I got out of my broody's nest than it still has a few days. Maybe 5 more days. I will be keeping that one if it does hatch and make it.

you say it's tapping it's bill in that spot...it's hard to tell in those pictures

Yes. I'm not sure if it was really it's bill or not but it kinda looked like it was though. Whatever part of the duckling it is it keeps hitting that spot over and over and I was just wondering if that is what an external pip looks like before they make a hole in the shell. It wasn't there before. Sorry the pictures are so bad. I only have my cell phone camera and was holding a flashlight in my mouth. I needed more hands and didn't have any lol.

I think it probably nicked a vein when it pipped so that's the coloring...it'll probably have externally pipped by the time you get home from work...isn't that little bill precious?

Hmm i'm not sure. Is there veins in the air cell? because that's where it is. Have the day off today and trying not to look at the bator, or else I won't get anything done today lol. Oh my if I had neighbors I swear i'd have called them all and made them come look! Unfortunately the Amish don't have phones. Just kidding the one's next to me do but I think it's because they are Mennonites. Although I do not have their phone number lol.

Oh nevermind I'm so curious now I had to check and it looks like the starts of an external pip.. AND I HEAR TAPPING!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!

Quote: the is membrane surrounding the duckling when it pips it's air it pips through the membrane that is surrounding it's body and yes has veins running through it so I believe the little stain is from nicking one of those little veins...while it is pipping, moving, pecking at the shell those movements cause it to absorb the remaining yolk and blood left in any veins

So happy to hear ducklings are hatching!!!
Thanks Miss Lydia. I'll be sure to post pics!

Oh I didn't know that. That must be what happened then.I wonder just how long it's going to take until this little absorbs everything and is ready to join the world.

a day or maybe 2...could be longer with a duck they internally pip 3 days before they hatch

This one pipped a day after lockdown and between last night and today has started to externally pip. I can see the small raise/crack on the side of the egg. I tried to get a picture but with my cell phone camera it didn't turn out so good. This is truly more amazing than I thought it was going to be.
