Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I hope they are doing okay! I haven't seen any movement but I don't want to open the incubator to candle them. Im only opening it for a few seconds to spray them with warm water and fill the tray and sponges with water too.....

Problem! My incubator (brinsea eco) keeps going down to 97. It was perfect the whole 25 days but now since its colder out the temp has been going down. I turned up the incubator temp so hopefully that will keep it perfect at night. How well can ducklings handle fluctuations in the temperature?

On the bright side......the humidity is perfect and my quail chicks are turning out to be interesting colors.

Towel can help, odd thing for a brinsea to do, they are usually reliable. Ducks are pretty tolerant, but at the end even more, as long as good humidity.

The temperature and humidity are perfect again.

I cant imagine how stressful hatching an emu is going to be! Fifty six days in the incubator and I cant candle to see development. That will be in March though.

Marty- How long should I wait for the ducks to hatch before opening them? I was going to wait till Tuesday. Today is day 25. Gosh....I keep thinking they are going to hatch sooner....

At least their coop extension is coming tomorrow. That will keep me occupied and away from the incubator for a few hours.....

It's OK, if they are active, let them at it. Don't even expect a single thing before day 28, day 29 and 30 are more likely. After external pip, expect to wait (don't touch!!!) another day or so..... They are S L O W.

Thank you for the tips! Im glad your here to help. I read a lot of your posts before I put the eggs in.

When can the ducklings go in the garage? My father wants to keep them there right after they are born with a light for warmth. The quail light fell over last week and started a small fire in the house (burned right through the rug) so hes been on edge ever since... It gets into the 50s in there now so Im worried that they will get chilled. The temperature under the light would be 100 degrees.
