My duckling just pipped

I think, from what I can see of her beak, that she's a girl. We'll just have to wait and see though!

Hello all! My seven ducklings are due on Friday - Sunday. Lock down started today and I can see some moving! I'm worried they will drown since the humidity went up to 79% for a few hours. Right now it is 71%........ I hope they are okay

This may help it's in the duck sticky's at the top of the page and say for waterfowl so hopefully you can glean some info till someone with bator experience comes in.

Oh that makes me less worried then. I will defiantly post pictures. They are Ancona ducks.

Can the ducklings be in the same cage as my 2 week old quails? I'm trying to give away the quails so the ducks can have the whole pen but so far I haven't gotten anyone....

you might think about getting a plastic storage bin and line it with puppy pads...put a heat lamp for them for at least a few days before you put them together

Thanks for the advice. What do you think about feeding the ducklings non-medicated chick feed? I also have grower game bird feed in pellets that I could mash up for them. Which one would be better? I ordered a vitamin/mineral pack to mix in their water too. I really hope they hatch!

Congratulations! When my quails were hatching all I did was sit in front of the incubator and watch. I got nothing done that night.

How can you tell the gender by looking at the beak? I thought most ducklings could only be vent sexed or color sexed.

I feed mine medicated chick feed

yes add the vitamins to their little water

when they are eating well in a week or so you could mix the game feed with the chick feed

sounds like they have a great chance at hatching
