Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

November 5th was day 28. I studied and studied all of this incubating stuff before I tried. This is her 2nd batch of eggs to incubate. My friend had one batch wuth her and everything was fine 10 babies. First time for my drake roeon though that I have incubated. I checked eggs all through the 28 days to make sure things were going right. And everything seemed a go. I am using a LG still air incubator. I can't remember the name of the digital thermometer or hydrometer I am using but they weren't cheap I know that. On November 3 I stopped turning and did not open the bator at all. Oh yeah before that I turned the eggs about 4 to 6 times a day. I mean I did my research on this and I thought I did everything right.

Better not to poke around in the incubator too much at this stage, but a quick peek at a couple of them might give you an idea what's going on. Try to keep air exchange to a minimum - let us know what you see. Also, what is your humidity and how are you checking it?

I candled one last night and the air sack was still intack. I couldn't see hardly anything because it was so full. I did see some veins and they seemed to be moving alittle.

That's exactly how mine looked. I don't know what would cause them to not break into the sac. I'm still tying to figure that one out. With mine, it's like they all just quit at the same time.

That's what mine did they all quit moving at the same time. Did any of yours mske it? How long did you wait to give up on the eggs? Unfortunately I gave my drake away because I got more ducks, all hens, and one was a Cuyaga and my drake tried to kill her. I do have 7 eggs I have though to try one more time but how long do I wait to pull the ones I have on there? The eggs I have saved will need to go in by Thursday or they will be no good. I love this female that I have. She gives me 2 eggs every day. Yesterday I only got one and she acted strange all day. All of a sudden yesterday afternoon she dropped one that had no shell. Then she was fine.

ugh! I just sent a long post and it somehow erased before sending.. So here it is again! That was weird.

Anyway, the 6 that never broke into the air cell did not make it. The only one that made it managed to make a pip and I had to help it the rest of the way. I'm pretty sure it was a humidity issue. But I will know soon because I have 2 right now that have broken into the air cell. If the same thing happens here ... I have the humdity up higher now. So we'll see.
