They remind me of light brahmas except they don't have feathered legs, but from what I remember hearing about them they are good layers and they sure are pretty, and you'd be keeping the line going. I'd go for it.
guess you've seen this thread? https://www.backyardchickens.com/se...eurl=www.backyardchickens.com/forum/index.php

Thanks for that link ML. I hadn't researched the forum yet. So I hadn't seen it.

I read that a full grown hen needs 4 to 6 ounces of feed a day to produce an egg. If that helps.

For better comparison, My 5 big girls went through a 50lb bag every 2 weeks 3 days. (Give or take a day.)
Including also, my 3 ducks.

I also bought a 50LB bag of cracked corn and mixed them together. For a treat for them. But it also made the feed go further. Which wasn't my intentions at the time.

Didn't she say she had kidney stones? She's hopefully knocked out on some good meds if so, those things hurt worse than having a baby.

Good luck on the eggs. They are pretty, I love colombian patterned birds.

I guess that's it then. I knew she was having Kidney Stones, but nothin' seems to keep that girl down! I wish she'd get online for just a minute and check in with us!

I can't find them in a single hatchery. I've check 5 or 6. Only the speckled sussex. So.. why aren't more people bidding on them then I wonder.
