Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

This day and thread has made me a nervous wreck all day.....can't imagine how YOU two are doing!!!!

Can't wait to see some fluffy butt pictures!

I have been at it since saturday. It's been nerve racking. Then add 2 more and you feel like pulling out all your hair. But we have been a help to each other that's for sure. Without Duckgirl and Quacker I would've lost it. I owe them a lot. When I was ready to just give up, they kept me going.

I really do thank you guys so much.

My humidity is down to 55 for some reason. Should I take the paper towel out and put a fresh warm one in? Bigfoot is trying so hard to get free from that egg. The peeping is loud and strong though. I feel good about this little baby. My granddaughter who is 17 bought a cuddly duckie from her work for the baby.

I know what you mean. I've been hearing about duck nuggets all night. That's mainly my brother the hunter.

******************DUCKY UPDATE******************

This just in: Ducky, (who I thought was half dead BTW) has gathered a small second wind. He/She/It has managed to get her booty out of the shell. Not sure how she managed this since, again, she is half gone. She is attached by a single blood vein, no signs of yolk or anything else. What does that tell you!? It tells you she was in there too long.

Also, her eyes are shut as well, and she can't open them. They look kinda water logged, like a grey funky crap over them. weird. I'm taking a pic and BRB!

If this ducky makes it, his name shall be........ BUNSEN. (get it? Beaker and Bunsen. That's funny right thar, don't care you ya are.)

You mean wet paper towel that you have put in to increase humidity? If it has dried out then you could replace it.

Your humidity does seem to be a bit all over the shop.... 55 should be alright though if you find you can't persuade it to go higher.

Bigfoot might not be able to get free of the egg till his cord shrinks and dries. When I had a duckling like that it only took about 4 or 5 hours to get to that stage (then I snipped through the dried cord - it was just a very thin, dry thread by that point).

He will enjoy cuddling up to the toy duckling once he is in the brooder

Wonderful news, QuackerJack!

No, that tells me that s/he has come out at the right time. Everything should be all disappeared and absorbed when they pop out. The only thing left should be a bit of mucky stuff and the brownish 'bag' that they pooped into while still in the shell. If there is anything still attached (as with Bigfoot) then they have emerged too early.

Stillmecle, looks like the cord is shrinking which is good. Those feet look a bit swollen/puffy but it's hard to tell from an internet pic alone.

Your duckling's down looks blue in colour to me.
