Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

My kids aren't playing nicely, so no time for me lol.
The humidity dropped in my incubator, all the way to 26%.

No pips this morning, so I just pipped little air holes for them a few minutes ago. It'd been over 24 hours since they internal pipped. Everything looks good inside, veins all dried up and all so I put them on damp paper towels and back in. I'll see what they can do on their own.

This last egg was 4 days after internal pip. Just FYI. It's so different than little quail. Almost too stressful.

I still haven't caught up on reading the thread, but those sure look cute and sound tasty too.

I know they are slow. They have their air holes now, so that's all I'm doing. I know they can breath, so I'll give them a few days. I just was worried cause my humidity dropped so dang far, but they are looking good so I'm done. Hands off now, lol.

They are cute. I wouldn't mind some bantam americauna's. I figure if I got them I could sell the chicks/eggs from them and the one's from my other hen's as EE's.

Hands off is TOO hard! I wish they would pip already!

What is the big popularity with the EE's? Is it the color of the egg? People seem to go crazy over them.

I think so. I like mine, she's cute but she's a crappy layer. She laid eggs for about a month before she quit for the winter. Everyone else is back to laying but not her.

I think it's also the fun in bringing home a chick/ hatching one that you have no idea what it'll look like once it's grown. Kind of why I like my mutts. It's fun.

Dumb question: Do you eat the eggs? Like, do they look and taste the same?
