Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

We can all compare differences between our set ups. Type of incubator, what temp/humidity maintained, how often turned, results of candling on certain dates.... etc....

Just the Sebbies really. Until I get moved and have more space. My grandpa had a few geese to "protect" his ducks.

ETA: I was going to say also, I'll look at it like an experiment. Good idea. Except for a get attached to my waterfowl eggs. (Not so much the chickens.)

I know exactly how you feel.
My little boogers already got names, and they aren't even close to hatching. My chicks and quail not so much. I adore my adult chickens, but as babies they're scared and personalty-less. When they get old enough to lay though, they go through a complete transformation and become total sweethearts. At least it makes it easy to sell the chicks.

Julie, I too love the african colors. Ironic I have not named my pair of geese, but hubby spent days looking at names for the ducky egg that made it to internal pip.

I was watching a movie with the song tiny dancer in it a few hours before candling and seeing little goose feet dancing around. Therefore, that egg is Sir Elton. I needed a name to go with it, so the other is Lady Gaga.

If you have a really good candler...
I could see dark spots in the yolk where the embryo was starting to form after about 36-48 hours.

You shouldn't have said that. LOL! They've been in there, maybe 12 hours?
My "candler" is one of those Ryobi flashlights that has a rechargeable battery. Pretty powerful. It MIGHT be on the charger right now.. ;)
