Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

"Bumble" is adorable. Are silkies hard to keep clean? They sure look like they would be.

Mine are white, and are the cleanest of the white birds out there, other than the turkey. They get their crest and foot feathers muddy, but are smarter than the rest when it comes to staying out of the rain and mud puddles so they seem to stay cleaner.

Thanks, I always wondered about that. It would be nice to have some super fluffy fuzzballs running around the yard

They can be green. It just varies. I got a better hatch rate though from the white eggs. I thought that was interesting.

wow that is kinda odd.
maybe its just one hen isnt as fertile?
hmm that would be an interesting experiment. if you had more hens that laid both colors.

Hello everybody! Did you like my one sided conversation this morning? That's what happened s after noon sleep for two nights and the drinking a Pepsi at 5:00 am after no Pepsi for 2 weeks .
Lol

I'm gnna go outside and work on the kennel today. I'm going to try to split it in half so I can kick 3 babies outside. I'm afraid Jonny apple yard might try to kill'em though. So I'm going to try to put wire up so he can see them but not get to them. I plan on taking the babies outside for a while today so they can get use to it. It's only 28 degrees out so I dont want to leave them outside too long all at once. But I'm going to try to have them completely outside by friday. I figure i will split the inside kennel in half, let the babies have the house that's attached and let the babies have the big half of the yard.
