Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I'm here. What's for dinner?

Are you at work?

Hubby made homemade chicken noodle soup. Super yummy. And I don't have to do anything.

Yummo!! Is it from home-made chickens?

Yes, I'm at work. There are only 5 people where I work and one of them is leaving today to go and have a baby. She is a lovely person and will be hugely missed. We are having champagne later. I guess she'll just have juice or something.

What kind of maternity leave do you guys get over there? Just curious.

That's the bummer about being preggers. No drinky drinky.
(that and 100 other things.)

Parents get 18 weeks of government funded 'Parental Leave Pay' at the rate of the National Minimum Wage ($589.40 a week). I got that info off a website. Here where I work it's a private business and we don't get anything on top of that. But government employees also get about 20 weeks at full pay I think?

Wow. That's pretty awesome. I got 6 weeks paid. Woo Hoo. Of course I got summer's off so I tried to time things accordingly. And then I resigned so.. win win.
