Also called Heritage Turkey Hatchery. They have the Lavender Anconas. I emailed them first to check "response time". Just to make sure it's not an old site or whatever.

Julie- I talked to her a few days ago. I forget her name on here... Cynthia12 I think? Anyway, Maybe I should get a drake from her to keep Rosalee quiet. (she's hot for anything that moves right now.)

FOUND this about them.... Anyone here have them?

We breed and raise Embden Geese. These geese are well natured and basically non-agressive but still retain the nature of most goose breeds: they make noise when they sense danger.

Their nature make these geese perfect for families with smaller children.

Embden Geese according to the records are not a very old breed, only being cited for around 200 years. The origins of this breed are thought to be from Northern Europe, in Holland and Germany. The eminent authority, Lewis Wright, was of the opinion that they originated from the town of Emden in Lower Saxony, Germany, although another source, namely Edward Brown, in ‘’Race of Domestic Poultry’’ believed that the breed was created by crossing the German White with the English White and then, by a process of careful selections, creating the goose as it is today. Others suggest that the English Embden’s great weight and size was produced by selective breeding with the Toulouse breed, which was then bred out leaving the large size of this breed.
The breed is pure white with a light orange, short, bill, and orange feet and shanks. They are fast growing birds and will quickly reach about 9kg (20lb) for the Goose, and 14kg (30lb) for the Gander. The Embden's legs are fairly short. The head is oval-shaped and they have a long and graceful neck. The eyes are blue. The body is bulky and well rounded, having a long back and a short tail. The wings are very strong and of a good length. The feathers are close and very hard. The breed’s habits are to forage for tidbits in the grass and water, a very hardy breed. The adult bird will commence laying eggs fairly early in the year, in February as a rule, laying 30 to 40 eggs. The bird is an excellent table bird.

The Embden flock and the herd guardian dogs get along (actually, the dogs are trying to eat the feed spead around for the Geese).

I just finished setting all the eggs. My bator is at maximum capacity. 10 goose and 24 duck eggs. I candled my 12 eggs on day 19 for quitters and all are still going strong. If I get good results in 4-5 day candle with new set, I will buy a 2nd LG and not risk problems with homemade.

And now I'm off to make dinner. Be back later. :)

QJ, saw that auction but not very impressed with the looks of them. Mind you ALL colored Sebbies have been cross bred in the past to get the color and crossed back to get the curls back. If you want a saddleback marked Sebbie I can give you good names for curly forms. I would like to see the F2 or F3 off spring from that group in the auction to see how their curls develop.

Thanks for that. My other fear is that he'll send me all Chinese. LOL.

If you get a drake, if you can talk DG into it or end up not making the trip down there you can have my ancona hen. I don't really want to raise anconas. I like my girl, and think she's pretty, but I'm just not that into pied ducks.
