Julie I call those cottage cheese babies (like human babies that are born a bit messier than others) I use a wet q-tip to remove the goop as much as possible keeping nares clear and moistening the membrane.

Thank you! I feel bad for letting the poor thing sit there so long shrinkwrapped, but I just didn't feel up to helping it before. The gunk slid right out, so I went ahead and took it out. Baby is wrapped in a napkin sitting in the bator in his egg peeping up a storm, so evidentally it's feeling better now.

All 7 Seramas are hatched, even the dropped one. I had to help him a bit, because he got a little bit stuck to the egg from the blood where the shell broke, but everyone else hatched out fine. Yay!

Chicks pick on each other more than ducklings, I can see that already.

Thanks, guys! These are my first chicks ever. They sure are cute, but they really peck at everything, including each other. I'm not used to that with ducklings. Is this normal behavior? They don't have a bright light on them, because they are under my EcoGlow brooder. They have food and water. Is it normal for chicks to peck at each other?
