Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Not sure if I'm included in 'everyone' but...

I'm okay. Slowly recovering from my loss of my entire duck flock. The only remnants I have are two ducklings that I had hatched out myself earlier in the year and gifted to my aunt. She graciously gave them back. I also have a new drake, who has a sinus infection, joy, so that's keeping me busy. And I'm expecting more babies next week!
Of course you're included!

I'm so sorry about your flock! Enjoy your new duckies and best of luck with the sick drake.
everyone is .... Everyone Pyxis

I do like Marty and grab them normally by 2's. BUT the bator DH built recovers humidity in less then a min. normally

my bator
I tend to leave mine in longer, but hubby grabs them by 2's. Don't know how it is that I'm more patient than he is!

I grab ducklings out after they fluff up a bit, too. Otherwise, they are knocking eggs all around like Marty said. I'm able to get the humidity up again fast, though. Plus, I am just impatient and have a hard time waiting to get my hands on them.

The tiny Serama chicks I left in for a bit longer.

If the eggs are being laid, then yes it makes only total sense to be placing them in the incubator

(enablers are great fun)

I pull new hatchlings out of the hatcher drawers each evening after dinner. Its when i do the misting and hand turning also, so while I am already tending the cabinet bators, the hatcher gets opened and clear of all of that days newly hatched. Hubby just set up the entire third floor of the house for hatching and 36 hour brooders making it a nice space to work in. After 36 hours all hatchlings are out of the house and off to the brooder house and sorted into stalls.

Oh, and HI QJ, How did I forget her??? I'm so sorry.

I have read most of these post and learned a ton and today is hatch day for us. We are newbies and this is our first hatch and just a few minutes ago our first duckling popped out. How long do we leave him in the bator before removing him?
Congrats on the new duckling!

That was sweet of your aunt, and yay for the new babies.

Same here.

We have 5 hatched and 2 more about ready and 5 more have holes.....this is so exciting/amazing I can't stay away from the bator. I did take the advice and take them out once they fluffed and that calmed my nerves they were pecking each other and tossing the other eggs around, looks like we are gonna have a bunch of sweet little babies.

Bators running & hatching a few Project Eggs & 12 Konzas ~ & some of my own Brahmas ~ All at 97.5 degrees
