I'm really sorry to hear about your duckling. But I'm very glad to hear the other one is doing ok.Bad news, I lost the little one that internally pipped early. I had a feeling something was wrong when I didn't find a pip this morning so I removed it just now and candled it to find it had quit. Not sure what happened, but it had a pretty bumpy ride with being cracked, waxed, and then having problems losing humidity. It was internally pipped and looked perfect but the yolk wasn't absorbed so it must have passed 24 hours ago or so. Looks like it was a little silver drake.
Good news is the other one is doing well and making slow and steady progress! This one is pipped externally now and it looks like it's working on making that pip hole bigger. Fingers crossed! I have a feeling I'm going to have a VERY needy duckling while I wait for these other ones to hatch in a week!
Hahaa that's so funny. We've called one of our runners Mr t-rex as we think he looks like a dino, Mr t for short!I'd definitely go for peacocks! The males can be quite ornery during breeding season, but ALL swans are nasty, all the time. All. The. Time. They're also extremely territorial, so if you already own other birds they will definitely get picked on and potentially hurt or killed by the swans. Honest to goodness, an angry mute swan is the closest living thing I've ever seen to my perception of what a velociraptor would be like!![]()
well im sad none of my ducks made it!![]()
