I have to go give 4 dogs a bath because I do pet therapy on weds. at a nursing home so I will be gone for a while but I would just watch the duckling and not intervene, if it's able to move then it can move this piece of membrane out of it's way. she is the one there though so she has to be the one to make the decision on this one. I'll be back in a few.

Don't ask me... I'm the "assisted hatch" girl. LOL! You know what I'm gonna say...

Speaking of- I did some "pipping" for this little duck and it is totally shrink wrapped in there. It's not coming out on it's own. I pipped halfway for it and moistened it down. The beak is stuck in one place and it can't move. I put it back in the bator to warm up and allow for more "absorbtion". I can see the blood vein needs to absorb a little more. Then I will pip the rest of the way around the shell.

Don't worry, I know what I'm doing. Swear. Done it a bunch for chicks.

I've also concluded that 70% humidity isn't enough for my location/bator. I'm going to try what Holderread suggests which is running each egg with a q-tip of lukewarm water from day 4-28. (Although mine hatch at day 25 since they're mallards.)
