With the duckling with the eye stripes - Holderread says that Mallards can have one or two. When I said I thought it was a Blue Fawn Mallard I was really referring to the colour (Blue Fawn), not so much the breed. Rouens don't come in Bkue Fawn so that's why I said Mallard but that's not to say s/he won't turn out a big bird.

Glad the duckling is out, QJ. When it's strong and active and all the yolk gone it can have a bath. Where did it pip the shell? Shouldn't be veins up the air cell end. Anyway, good to hear its still with us! Holly and Ivy are good names

Or what about Goldy and Frankincense?

70: When I had my second my Aunt got us movie passes. And in the card she wrote something to the effect of "I'll watch the baby so you 2 can go to a movie." We loved that.

Or a bottle of Jack for dad and some bath salts for mom. That's all I wanted was a nice long bath with smelly goods in it.

Ooh how excting! I'm done hatching human babies. Those I am up to if not over my limit on, but I love other people's cute little babies. Honestly, what I wanted after I had my kids was someone to come cook dinner for me or clean so I could spend time cuddling with my new little one. Or maybe a giftcard for a portrait place?

Thanks for the great ideas, Julie!!

They live in Melbourne (8 hours' drive from here) but we are going there after Christmas for a few days.

LOVE Goldie and frankincense! How cute. It pipped on the air cell end. But a little lower. Weird. But she's out of the shell, just attached by a tiny string. She doesn't move much right now. Poor little thing. But she's starting to fluff up! I love them.

I know its funny but I love the sound of peacocks, I worked at the zoo for 7 years, and I heard them all the time, probally why I like the sounds of my Guineas too !!

I guess its kinda like when you live next to train tracks, airport etc.

I love Gunieas! I had them growing up. Good little tick eaters! We had a huge Elm tree in out front yard they would all sleep in. When they started their "night song" we knew it was time to go inside. That's the first thing on my list to get when we get "our farm".

Since everyone is talking about peacocks on here, get one of those and your neighbors will never hear a lil bitty rooster crow over them loud things. I'm in city limits, and not supposed to have roosters. I only have close neighbors on one side, the other side and behind me are empty lots. I ask him at least every few weeks if my roo is bothering him yet, and he isn't so far. The dog barking, yes. Rooster crowing, no.

Luckily my neighbors are all 70+ and they love my chickens. I take them all fresh eggs. I guess they remember when chickens were a need and not a novelty. And a couple houses down has chickens and a goat. So I'm not the only "weirdo" on my street! That's one loud goat.

I want goats too. I've been trying to talk someone into getting me 2 for Christmas. Are they really that loud?

When I was a kid our neighbors had one. I don't remember him making any noise, but I spent hours out there playing with him. His name was Lollipop. I'm sick of clearing our fence lines, and with almost 2 acres that's a lot of weedeating. The guy that owns the 2 (same size)empty lots next to us said if we got goats he'd gladly let them browse over there too, so I have plenty of brush for a pair to eat.

The first time I heard peacocks was on my friends farm. I spent forever looking for what I thought were very loud cats until someone told me it was the peacocks.
