I hadn't heard of goats being noisy. What kind of goats would you get?

Little ones, either pygmies or nigerian dwarfs. I read they can be loud if you only have one and they get lonely, so I was hoping a pair would be pretty quiet.

Luckily my neighbors are all 70+ and they love my chickens. I take them all fresh eggs. I guess they remember when chickens were a need and not a novelty. And a couple houses down has chickens and a goat. So I'm not the only "weirdo" on my street! That's one loud goat.

I want goats too. I've been trying to talk someone into getting me 2 for Christmas. Are they really that loud?

When I was a kid our neighbors had one. I don't remember him making any noise, but I spent hours out there playing with him. His name was Lollipop. I'm sick of clearing our fence lines, and with almost 2 acres that's a lot of weedeating. The guy that owns the 2 (same size)empty lots next to us said if we got goats he'd gladly let them browse over there too, so I have plenty of brush for a pair to eat.

It's not like it's super noisy.. it just bleats or whatever it's called. And when you're in the middle of the city.. that's a foreign noise. But it does it quite often. It is also kinda young and they only have one. So I'm thinking it's probably lonely.

But I guess I should have clarified. They aren't particularly noisy/loud. People would just notice here because they're not expecting to hear a goat in downtown Lee's Summit. LOL!!

I know how that is. My road is fairly busy, and I have so many cars slow wayyyy down and check out the chickens and ducks when they are out, lol. I know there is at least one other person in my neighborhood with chickens because I can barely make out a rooster crowing sometimes when my birds all shut up for a minute. I haven't figured out where these other chickens live though.

I put something semi-homemade in mine. You'll see tmw. I wouldn't think you'd get it today. That's kinda fast.

I love home made it means you took more time for me Thnaks

goats are only noisy when they are hungy, in heat, or a male smells a female in heat.
otherwise they are quiet.
and the are actually really icky on what they eat

I sprayed my last batch once a day with warm water. Maybe that is why mine came out so quickly. I wish my duckies would stay small. They are so cute and funny right now. I let them out to run around today and they had to try to eat everything in their way.

do you spray during lock down too???

Ask your mailman. That's how I found the rooster I was hearing. Mailmen know EVERYTHING!

I want a pair of whethers I think so I don't need to worry about that. I know they don't like grass, they prefer to browse. The next door goat did a great job, we never had to clear that side of the fence while he was there. I still have a lot more research to do before I decide, and a ton of fence to reinforce first too.

One of these days though....

I want to milk them. What a good one for milking? (This is way in the future.)

Ooh, I didn't even think about that. Our mailman is so sweet. When he brought my quail eggs to the door he had them cradled in his arm like babies and said he hoped no one was too rough on them and that they made it ok.

Wish they were all like that, shipped eggs would be so much easier!
