I have a few who have earned their status as lifetime pets. A RIR who was older, never laid good since I got her, is now an internal layer and will live here until she dies. She got sour crop over the summer and became very ill. I would put her outside, and at night she'd come fall asleep by the front door waiting for me to bring her in and put her in her box in the kitchen.
I also have a small silkie mix who is sweet with my daughters, and lets them pick her up. She's here forever too. The others aren't very attatched to me, and while friendly I haven't gotten too attatched to them. It's easier for me to sell them while they are still small then later, after I've gotten to know them.
