How's it going?

She's got her feet under her and is starting to hold up her head.

She's also getting lighter and lighter, I think she may be silver instead of blue. Wish she'd hurry and fluff up. I peeked at my other egg(shined a flashlight through the window, didn't open!). It looks sticky. Don't know if it's just because it's black and darker than the other duckling. Is that a problem?

thanks guys

my photography has come a long way since i first started.
these guys were very confused by the camera.
it was cute tho.
the boys kept goin inside so i kept sayin guys where are you going? and they would come back outside quacking.

too bad the boys are always the prettiest, i wish the girls had the pretty green & blue feathers.

Julie, I agree that that duckling looks Silver. But for that you'd need a mother that's carrying the blue gene. Do you have a female with blue in her? Saxony? Swedish? A white duck, even?

I think that black ones do look wetter when they hatch. When you say sticky, do you just mean wet/slick looking or actually with goop on it?

All I have are my drake, and my ancona. I guess she could be split for blue? Only other possibility was my khaki. According to the duck calculator if my drake is cayuga/buff and it was the khaki's eggs I could get dilute? blue self, or dilute lilac, lilac, or a billion other colors. I get confused.

The other one looks wet/slimy, but not goopy. Maybe my first one was just drier than she should have been.

I agree that, out of the possible candidates, those are the parents - Cayuga/Buff male and Khaki female. Silver is not possible with that combination. But your duckling could easily be lilac. Could also be blue (but my money is on lilac). Should be really pretty!!!
