Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Drama for yo Mama!

It is the fan that quit working. Once I fired up the big bator and transferred the eggs, I was able to turned the top of the LG upside down and see that the fan is toast. My hubby is going to work on it. I might replace the fan just to have it for a smaller hatch, or to use as a warmer. But in the meantime, Grandpa's "big red" is working great. But it smells funky. I didn't get the opportunity to clean it like I wanted. But hubby says, get through this hatch and then you can get it cleaned real good. Whew! I thought he would be like, "What's up with that funky smell? Get that thing out of my garage!" It's like an "old Hatch" smell. You know the one. I put vinegar water in there and some charcoal. Today it's much much better.

So... I also googled the company that makes the bator and it's still in business. It's called GQF Manufacturing. I must say, I would recommend this company for the simple fact that this thing Still Works after so many years.

I emailed them hoping they would have some archived directions and to get some replacement parts for the other one.

So there's my drama for yo mama. I hope it wasn't too late for these eggs. Time will tell I guess.

Ohhh Yay!! Leave them alone though. Did they pip overnight?

They have been pipping one by one. The first one i noticed yesterday at lunch time. How long do they usually take? And what if I saw one wiggling on Thursday night (or Friday morning at 1am), but it still hasn't pipped? Do you think it will make it??

Don't you love how older, well-built things sometimes outlast all the newer stuff? So happy that it is running like a champ for you! How long were the eggs in the other incubator?

Thank you for the welcome and I think her birds are nice

Well, THANKS! I didn't think about cross referencing ebay with craigslist. I do feel a little better about it. She does have nice birds.

Welcome to our little thread!!

They can take awhile. I wouldn't worry yet. My last one took 5 days. 5 Days! Drove me nuts. I wouldn't interfere with them until Monday evening.

I have a staggered hatch going, so the first group was in there for 7 days and the second group was only in for 2 days. I'm hoping something will start growing now. I would hate to loose all those eggs. That would make me sad. :(
