4 Bolton Bays (ST
What are bolton bays?
The English variety of Hamburg (Gold Quill / Pencilled). This was a strain of OEPF (Old English Pheasant Fowl, which are Quill / Pencilled), until it had Danske Totleger (Dutch Ever-layer; the solid colors) Blood introduced, and then finally Turkish Hamburg (Turkish fowl, which are Spangled) were introduced, but although they were very closely bred, they were / are still distinct. Hamburgs as we typically know them are the largest, spangled variety, and Solid Hamburgs are the BBS varieties, which are medium sized and thicker, physically, and the English Bolton is the smallest and flightiest of the Hamburgs. Confusingly, despite there differences, they are all called Hamburgs (which is a fairly new name, too).
- The Silver variety is called Bolton Gray.

We will reach 10K if Quackers & Mecle are on here in the hour

Ahh. Wish the pretty little breeds like them weren't so flighty. I'd like to get butttercups, but my leghorn drives me batty so I'm staying away from flighty breeds.

Yes, they, like small children, make one tired by just watching them. However, it's handy when fox decides he'd like to have sunday brunch at your farm...

Congrats on the milestone. :D

7 duckies are rocking now. 2 are determined to get out early. 2nd bator is stabilizing fast. Hubby and best friend are working on setting up the brooder.

My silkies seem to do the best for some reason predator wise. I think they are smart enough to know they are raccoon bait and stay where it's safe. We have a fox that I see occasionally in our yard, bunches of hawks, raccoons, and opossums. Main thing I'm worried about though are stupid stray dogs, so I prefer chickens that stay. I like my la fleche/ delaware crosses. They seem to be balanced perfectly for me between flighty and friendly.
