Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

The first pic is the ancona helping the 8th one hatch. The next pic is the latest progress with the last eggie. At least he doesn't seem stressed. We have peeled a lot of the shell away and moistened the membrane. He is eating the rest of the stuff on inside of membrane right now. I bumped the humidity to 80% too.

I think we are making progress with our last duckling. We have been carefully peeling the membrane away until we see the first sign of blood, then swabbing it with qtip and putting it back in bator to rest for an hour. I hope it makes it!!

HI
i just thought id read a little before i went to take a nap..
life has been so crazy here lately i havent been able to sit down to read up on our wonderful thread.
i started a kickboxing class twice a week and zumba twice a week to get me outta the house.
busy busy busy.....

my big 5 here should have baby chicks in soon :D!!! lol
oh no!! id rather hatch eggs then get babys..

The last one made it!!! We got half of the shell off... put him back in and he did the rest himself!! Woo hoo!!! Total Count: 8 cayuga duckies & 1 ancona ducky!!

Now I am a little worried about the ducky we helped hatch. It looks like it has a crooked wing and is trying to flap it but it bends towards his body. I can't seem to get a good picture of it. Is there anything we can do for it??? Note: it does seem energetic at least.

Hubby is going to offer it some sugar water by syringe. Is that ok?

Utah: Let him work out the kinks. He's active and that's good. I would off him water.
Evelle: Cool! I tagged you on FB. Thought you might like that pic.
CG: So you're gonna get it right?
Celtic: I googled the splash and they are super pretty!

Ok, here are my new babies. I guess I just hatch things in two's...?... dumb! 2 sussex and 2 wyns. Whatevs. They both have some egg on them. Look at how much bigger the splash is.

And then here's my livestock guardian dog..

QJ, so glad you could save your chicks!! Love the pic of your guardian dog.

I hope he is just working out the kinks. He is a SPUNKY little guy and was determined as hell to hatch, especially considering the other two that were in his position failed to externally pip. After doing the drunken sailor rounds pipping away, he is now resting quietly and drying off in the bator with two of his buddies.
