Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

CelticOaks- your sebastopol are so lovely! I just got a murry mcmurry catalogue, and I was salovating over thier. Tried to talk DH into ordering some birds with me, but I took that icy glazed
stare as a NO.

Iain Utah - I'm sore sorry about twist. I've been following, and I, like many others, do wish her the best.

Countrygirl - what kind of goats do you have?

Good evening and Happy Heart Day to everyone whos here guarding their eggs instead of out celebrating romance. Me? I'm waiting for hubbhy to get back with the candy he promised and

FORGOT!

a doe & wether that are alpine (8mnths old)
they are purely pets to eat the weeds lol.

OK. My topic tonight is goose egg candling.

After tonight I'm not candling for another week. I'm tired of it. Here goes...

I candled from the top with a tiny LED flashlight that you get at TSC. That's the trick. Totally different pic. Keep in mind this flashlight was random in the house and I need to get one that's stronger.. Here is what I saw.

Sebbie Group #1 (Celtic): In one egg I see a dancing baby! In the other egg I see what I'm 99% sure is a dancing baby. I couldn't see defined goosey, but there is so much movement in there. It kinda looks like a black mass that is swirling around. Does that make sense? I see no defined veins, but I can see lines. Like maybe if my flashlight were stronger those lines would be red.

Sebbie Group #2 (Ebay): Nothing. I see nothing. No veins, no dot, no baby, nothing. This is day 6 for them. The yolk looks that same golden color. Like the deep bronze. One of the air cells is detached in one. It looks like both of these eggs are filled with water. Really, there is fluid sloshing around in there. It's weird.

In conclusion: #1 Geese are complicated. #2 If both these make it, they will probably be males. LOL. And #3 I will only buy eggs from Celtic from now on. Celtic-when you have 2 eggs that are un-related or heck related for all I care, I want on the list.

ETA, typos.
well atleast celtics eggs sound like they are doing good

Its on the inside of the shell. But the baby is not moving any more.

so am i losing my mind or are my eggs starting to move?
i swear my 1 egg isnt in the spot where i left it .
its like 2 inches from that spot and no longer X up.
its my egg with the wiggly baby.

so am i losing it?
i would think its too early for them to move the egg.
maybe i didnt have it level (bcuz it has the wax on it)

When are they due to hatch? I've had them cruising as early as 5 days before, but never in my self turner of course. Back when I still did it by hand...... (you know, the dark ages of incubation)

SM: What is the chip in the egg from? I'd leave it. Can't hurt anything.

I agree. This close to hatching, leave it Maybe hes tired.... Maybe he's pipped a bit early, and is waiting now. I have had duck eggs do that, and still hatch. I've also had them die for no apparent reason. Leave the egg.

Just don't sit and wait and watch and loose your marbles!

Cg, my last set of eggs started to move on day 20. Hatched day 27. I have a couple eggs starting to move today. Again, it is day 20.

Thats good. so does my mom! Me, I'm lazy and not always availble for it. I do still have some bators for that type, but I use them for hatchers. I just figured I had the cheapest smallest set up, considering how much you guys seem to do. You make me feel better! It does really tie you emotionally to the babys though. No wonder you and fluffy are buddies. She knows your mama!
