Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I love tomatoes. So did the chickens, thats why I havn't had them in awhile. (that, and they were all girls, so they didn't last forever) But, taking beaks full of fleshing dripping vine ripened tomatoe did hastenn their demise a bit. chicken soup anyone?

I'm a tomatoe snob too. Love Amish Yellow Pear cherry, Pink Brandywine, Cherokee purple, green grapes cherry, and Big Rainbow the best. If you've never tried the Yellow Pear or Pink Brandywine, you are missing out bigtime!

UHH really gotta get GIANT BELGIUMS ! THey used to make wine out of them because they are so scrumptious

I've seen it once. Kind of. Out of the corner of my eye. I'm not a television person, but hubby is, so I soak up his tv time whilst doing other things.

That said, while we don't quite resemble the super-prepared preppers, we're working on a pretty good food and supply stash going. Living in a place where you have to either go over a bridge or take a ferry to get to the "mainland" from the peninsula, we're well aware that there'd be no food coming to stock the grocery stores in an emergency.

ooh what island are u on?

Aunt Ruby's German Green with a little cajun seasoning. The best ever. We struggle up here to get the big ones before the season ends, but we try and try... and sometimes succeed.

Must repeat my suggestion: we need to have a seed trade! :)

LUV the german green ~ Good things come to those who wait ! I always go for the flavor OVER the early'lies
