Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I don't know. I'm not a goose person. But that sounds good to me. LOL. I've read the Sebbie is referred to as the "pet" goose. Otherwise I wouldn't get them. Unless I had tons and tons of space. Because I do have a small fear of geese.

Tell me why it's historic, because I'm super curious.

I'm so glad two are doing well. She (?) is going to save me a pair of youngsters this fall for shipping. They are very beautiful, and I hear the only nice goose.

I was farm bred, and my folks had embden (white and black-bad spelling maybe), and either chiense or african. They had topknots, and were feaking LOUD. Anything happened, and the geese went off. I'll never forget the first time I encountered a breading pair! I was little, and he/she whacked me in the face for my curiosity. I took pleasure in eating their eggs after that!

But seriously, I have this funny old garden on the property, about an acre, and its protected (historic stuff) and I cant really do anything but keep the knot gardens going, and mow along the rock fence. Its ideal for a pair of geese. They won't mess it up as bad as the ducks, I guarantee it. And if Sebs are polite (more than others) guests can still go in, right? (Springtime and eggsitting aside, right?)

Others would call it nosey
