Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Good point. I just noticed the fruit loops in the living room...

I hid ALL sharpies!! But I have some interesting art work on my wall. :) And when they say permanent they aren't joking.

Is muddy duck gonna give you trouble? Sorry!

Try OOPS! or Goof off on your wall if it is a washable paint at all. put it on a rag and dab a tiny section to see if it helps.

Misting twice a day or more to gain aircell space is fine. Some aren't as text book as others with their air cells, but helping the issue along is never a bad choice. If they are trying to make the turn then yes I would stop turning them so they aren't fighting the turner while prepping to hatch.
Very exciting you and QJ going into lockdown before me with goose eggs. The weather is just perfect here today. Strong breeze, no rain so thinking we will work on some fence panels today.

I saw my bouncing babies this morning while adding water. Big fat veins and moving blobs really is all I see. LOL. The air cell looks about day 12, when it's day 15 so I'll spray twice a day unless you tell me not too.

It IS exciting at my place. Goosies are all getting ready to hatch and my ducky bator sounds like a popcorn popper. Blue #2 is in a hurry. It is cheeping and working on position for external pip already.

My geese are getting more persistent with trying to find a way to be with the duckies. This morning, they were "guarding" the window and coo-ing to the duckies when I went out to feed. The one I am now thinking is female started neck dipping and hissing at me, which the other stood tall and flapped wings. I had to walk a wide circle around them before proceeding to horse property to feed. They reluctantly followed me for breakfast, but were vocally unhappy about leaving the duckies.

So.... I think I figured out a way to give them the goslings after they are a few days old. There is a large garage on horse property with power. I can set up a fully enclosed brooder pen inside there and leave the side door wedged open. That way, if the geese want to be with them, they can, but the goslings are still protected.

No, she's been following me everywhere so she'll probably hop right in the car if I give her a chance, lol.

Here they are! Everybody is out of the brooder. Blacky is still tired, but he's hanging in there. All 4 are drinking VERY well, so I'm not worried about them.

Also, this is the first time I've tried the contact paper for the brooder box and it is awesome. I won't use anything else from now on.

Those are some BIG ducklings. Here's mine with I think the same cup for size reference, lol.
