Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

i never really understood the float test.. :/
im sorry.. if i confused you.

your fine.
i understand.
i just dont have hope for my eggs at this point with the way they look.
if there is no change for the better in them by saturday i am removing them. and putting in my call ducks.
i feel horrible that they didnt make it .

i;m also thinking my thermomoter malfunctioned and i had the wrong temp for the entire time.
i was using the metal one that came with the incubatory but tonight the mercury split inside the tube and some of it went down and some went up.

so i borrowed one from the neighbor and it says my temp is 101.

CG, that is a bummer!! I'm sorry!! I had an egg like that in this hatch that turned yellow on outside of shell.... I quickly pipped it, but it was too late for that ducky.

oh no that would be terrable!!!!
same thing happened to my hydrometer :( i need to get a new one before TUEEEESSSDAY!!!

CG, I haven't had one turn yellow but I have only had a few goes at incubating.

If you see absolutely no movement from any of them on candling then I'm afraid that is not hopeful. But you know that...

I'd give them till Saturday too. Don't discard them too early.

Do you have a still air or fan forced incubator? 101 is a little high for a fan forced but not in the fatal range. Maybe a tad low for still air but not enough so that it should make too much difference (IMO).

Other things to consider are the diet the adults are on (if they came from your birds), and humidity at hatch. It should be at least 70%.

I'm so sorry that you haven't had any hatch yet.

DG, fyi... I have the results of colors of eggs resulting in colors of babies.... I had 4 blue eggs hatch. 3 are silver or lavender and the 4th is a heavily colored blue. The two white eggs hatched black/white babies. I am hoping I get a lot of blue eggs in this next batch!

i have a still air.
the directions that came with the incubator said 99.5-100
ive kept it 99.5 (acording to the metal therm.) which i now wonder about.
they were not my birds i got 4 dozen from a lady on craigslist.
out of 21 eggs, only these 2 even developed. both were doing exelant until today .
my lockdown day wasnt until saturday .so i havent raised humidity yet. im on day 28.

Candled my RIR eggs today, and thought 2 were dead, so I threw one out is the pasture, didnt crack though. Then droped the other one on the ground to find that it had a live baby chick in it :he so I started crying, and ran down to the pasture to try and find the other egg. Couldnt find it, so I ran inside, completly crying.my eyes out, mumbleing to my mom that I killed baby chicks, so me and my brother ran down the pasture to find it. Finally found it, and put it in the bator. It completly KILLED me to see the tiny chick just laying on the ground with its tiny little heart beat :he :hit

I feel horrible! :he :barnie :hit
