Silkies are not really chickens anyway. They are more like little stuffed animals........ I love my silkies...... They get annoyed with me picking them up for cuddles, but I figure if they hang around close to your feet like a little dog then they are just asking for some smooshy face time.

I had already promised a chicken to the lady and I wanted to keep silkies. Hubby said he diesn't want chickens but I think i can talk him into the silkies cause they are cute.

Sorry, I've got two too many roos anyway and they are all EE's not ameraucanas.

I have a friend with 2 Americauna roos for sale or swap if anyone is interested.

polish are great, but a little word of warning for yall getting them. You have to watch them in the winter time because they will get a drink and the crest always gets in the water and wet and then it freezes leaving ice hanging in front of their eyes. Poor babies, so we always done a hair cut on them for winter to keep that from happening.

They can also be quite the little head pickers too. They pick on each others top hats and leave bald heads..... We used to get this stuff to stop picking and put it on their heads, but as the crest grow back in it leaves them stained. Eventually we just decided to get out of the polish because of all the trouble they were.

Last night before bed I was showing the baby silkies how to get under thus one blanket I have in the tub for them to get under. Well I shut their heat lamp off last night and when I just went in there, they were gone.. they all climbed under that blanket to sleep and state warm. Smarty pants.

Awwww..... I love little silkie chicks.

I'm incubating: bantam cochins in splash and mille fleur, olive eggers and just put in some wheaten marans a couple days ago. The marans are a mess, they were ebay eggs and poorly packed. I've done some wax fixer up jobs, but I don't have much faith in these eggs making it. A few that had no cracks just up and started oozing out it's poors after I put them in the incubator. I've waxed all the spots it was leaking, but I'm sure I'll end up having to toss them soon.

Well I'm off to go get the day started...... Gotta let the ducks out, collect up the eggs, and then find something to eat.
