On a personal level, I HATE getting eggs in a carton.

I had someone put them in a carton and then use packing tape around the whole thing. Took me 30 minutes to try to get all that undone, and I almost broke an egg in the process. I remember thinking, NO WaY will I do this to someone else.

The packing tape was sticking to the bubble wrapped eggs.. etc. I had to get a razor blade to get all that mess undone.

When I start getting eggs, I'm going to practice on you guys and get feedback.
But I'm going to try making egg holder out of foam board to hold the air cells up. Instead of the egg carton.

from looking and listening to you guyses stories about shipped eggs seems to me the eggs do better when:
A: bubblue wrapped individually.
B: have filling in the egg carton to prevent them from moving.
C: egg carton has filling around it inside the box so it does not move.

i think the safest sounding method i heard was putting the egg carton in a smaller box with filling around it. then that box in a bigger box again with filling.

When DG sent me her eggs she did this and none where cracked but she didn't use bubble wrap she used fluffy paper towels. I think as long as you packe them in tightly with some cushion they will be ok.

1.) I like that idea I want to be on your feed back list. 2.) great idea about the foam board!! Love it! I had a few times where they wanted eggs to get to me safely so they over over did it I've broken a few tring to get them unwrapped I called and told them NEvER again please lol

Right? So you know what I'm talkin' about then. It's like... packing tape isn't going to save them.. seriously. Ya didn't have to use the whole roll! LOL!

I just had this mental pic of DG ever so gently wrapping her eggs in paper towels. That made me smile.

Hahaha!! She did an awsome job! They had. Something to absorbe the bouncing then she put a ton of newspaper in a bigger box and packed th egg carton in the newspaper tightly. I was very impressed

I liked how Sm used Sudan wrap. That was a good idea instead of tape

You can always tell when im on my phone things are autocorrected for me (NOT) things are uncapitalized when I want them to na and vice versa

Just popping on and saw those shipped eggs. That result is why I will NEVER ship in a carton, unless it's 2-3 goose eggs that can ride spaced out. Easier to wrap, pad, stand up in a small box and then pad in a larger box. My costs for shipping are higher, but the eggs hold up and grow and hatch.

We have been SWAMPED today. Sold 6 ducks today, plus took a deposit on 4 to be picked tomorrow. Sold 19 doz chicken eggs and 6 doz duck eggs.

Just finished moving juvenile chicks to a play yard they are loving the extra room to run and play.


We have the following eggs available to send Monday if anyone is interested:

5 maybe 6 African goose eggs
6-9 khaki Cambell duck
6-9 buff Orpington duck
1-2 doz Easter Egger chicken

These are eggs beyond any that have been paid for already to ship this week.

about 6 of the eggs are smaller than the others (give or take)
3 are slightly dirty- they were laid on the ground (inside) and are from the hen that is just starting up.
the majority are from my hen that started laying first and has been the most failful thus far.

i am also doing a little bit of an experiment with this.
i know people say eggs shuld only sit for 7-10 days.
a few of these eggs are 2 1/2 weeks old. (i dont want any flack)
when our guines lay they have atleast 24 eggs usually. which means 1 egg a day . 24 days. and they hatch the majority of them.
so i want to see if eggs that are older. have just as good a hatchability as the fresh eggs.

if im wrong on my theory, then im wrong. no big deal.


i am also keeping a running tally on how many eggs my girls lay total this year. so dar im up to 26.
