Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hubby got a call today, asking if we had any ducklings left, as the person wanted a pair. He said his were sold out, but I may have a pair of my newly hatched anconas for sale. I am very torn, and I would NOT want to sell them for $5 a piece, like the cayugas. IF I decide to sell a pair, what would be a fair price?

Also, has anyone put an ad out stating that ducklings/goslings would be available as day olds in 4-5 weeks to see what kind of response there would be? If so, how did you word the ad?
I did that but I don't remember how I worded it. So there's a bunch of help for ya.

LOL. I said something like, "they are due to hatch in about a week, first come first served, mother nature etc.. blah blah blah."

What's so controversial about that?! I thought it was going to be something cool like, "I put a slice of cucumber on each egg, and then on day 15 I sprinkle salt on them."

I do that, and it doesn't work for me. LOL. I'm lowering humidity. But you're higher than me I think... up there in Washington.

LMAO. (You're higher than me.)

The way I incubate...

I obviously let eggs set a minimum of 4 hours & a Maximum of 24 hours (depending on how fresh the eggs)

I rotate all my eggs (quail duck goose chicken pheasant etc) at the same time and same intervals from day one of setting in the bator

I rotate all right up until I put them in LD ~ I lay all on their sides

I keep my temp at 99.75 ~ with a shut off of 100.5

I also keep my humidity at a minimum of 70% and a maximum of 82% DURING the WHOLE ENTIRE hatch from set to LD to Hatch....

Now this is per incubating instructions for my Cabinet incubator.

OH & I do not fuss/touch/ or candle any of my eggs until day 14. I know that would be hard for MOST of you .... hint hint YOU know who you are !

My last ancona babies I sold to a fellow BYC member for $4.00 each. Of course they cost me nothing as eggs because I have my own flock, but I'm pretty sure Aurora springs only sells the ducklings for like $6.00 as day olds.

But the Humidity shouldn't matter where your at because it is in an enclosed bator ~ Everyone is keeping bators at 40% even peeps in my state, I have always had it at 70% Cocoa from day one. & Yes I am higher than you, and it is called the EverGreen State

& I did not let out all my voodoo secrets!

OH & now that I said something "Murphys Law" I am not going to hatch anything now !

Hi everyone - just catching up

Jazz - nice baby pics and love the brooders. Gonna show pics to DH, the handy guy, and see if he will build me some too.

IanUtah - sorry some eggs came bad. What lays those lovely blue eggs?? I want one of those!!

Got my quail in lockdown. I hear one cheeping at me sometimes!

Today both more quail eggs and giant peking duck eggs came in - they are almost as big as goose eggs! I'm gonna be handturning for sure! They won't fit side by side in my duck egg holders, and I don't have room to space them every other hole!

I'm kinda stuck - got quail on lockdown in my other incubator, so I guess I'll be waiting a few extra days to stick them in there.
