Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

so i got one of my egg layers on camera today. i went to check for eggs about 11 (grandma let them out at 9)
and one hen wasnt at the fence screaming at me.
so i gave them their greens and ventured inside.
this is what i found

my snowy hen.(the light one)
i turned around to leave her to her work and she ran out yelling for her pals.
and left behind a nice clean warm egg in the box.

Iain- My goslings and ducklings are still together, but will probably be seperated soon. The ducklings aren't growing very fast, the goslings are. I am hoping it will be warm enough soon to put the goslings with the older ducklings soon.

has them being togather made a difference with your ducklings?

Yeah, gas is high here too. Not $4 yet, but I would rather spend that money on gas and know that my eggs are safe then save half the gas money and find out that only 1 chick hatches. Plus I scored a pair of 4 month old Wheatens and a pair of true Ameraucanas, now time to sell off those EE's since I finally got what I wanted in the first place.

Wow. Having the option of a two hour drive or eggs in the mail, I took the mail option. Gas here just hit $4 a gallon.

How old r they now?
Hopefully they dont hit that stage

They are 2 weeks. My older ones were sweet for the first week only, and these little guys still come up and nibble at me and sit in my hand. I haven't spent any more time with them then I did the older ducklings, less really because there's more of them. They are also much quieter. They only make noise if they hear me talking and they need more water or food.

Utah reminded me of where you got them.

Boondockers is already a step up from my situation. Responding to emails?? What a concept.

Ancona ducks. The eggs are older, though, and they were shipped, so it was a gamble. Not sure if any are going to hatch.

I haven't bought my ducklings from Boondockers yet, but so far they've been great about responding to my emails very quickly (usually within a few hours).
