Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

They are 2 weeks. My older ones were sweet for the first week only, and these little guys still come up and nibble at me and sit in my hand. I haven't spent any more time with them then I did the older ducklings, less really because there's more of them. They are also much quieter. They only make noise if they hear me talking and they need more water or food.
Well thats good then

I just got back from working on my chicken space. I'm d-o-n-e. Done. Feel like I get hit by a truck! Had to prune the cherry tree that grows there, move my dads fence posts and raking.. etc. Looks real nice, but I'm not done. LOL.

And I haven't even started on the actual "coop part" yet.

Anyway, it was fun.

Yeah, gas is high here too. Not $4 yet, but I would rather spend that money on gas and know that my eggs are safe then save half the gas money and find out that only 1 chick hatches. Plus I scored a pair of 4 month old Wheatens and a pair of true Ameraucanas, now time to sell off those EE's since I finally got what I wanted in the first place.

Trust me, I went back and forth a few times before I decided that my hourly worth + gas money was enough to justify the risk of shipped eggs. Besides, I wanted to show a little faith to the seller. If this first batch doesn't work out well, I can always make the trip at another time.

Of course, I would have planned a trip without considering other options if there had been live birds involved. I've driven an hour and half before for live birds, I just planned it along with other errands.

Well my chukars were hatched on November 25th ~ So optimum Butcher age is 16 weeks, because they are 93% full weight ~ SOOOO March 15th is going to be BBQ time. I have been impatiently waiting! My B-day is March 11, so I will have to do a couple early!
