Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

98 is low for incubating and can lead to slow hatches (going past the expected due date). Always try and stay between 99.5 and 100.5 for a forced air incubator. Most waterfowl do best with humidity around 30-40% during incubation and 70-80% during lock down. Lockdown officially starts when the first duckling/goslings pips internally. You can check for this via candling. Once internally pipped you will see the bill moving inside the air cell space, and often hear peeping/clicking/tapping sounds.

Hey Celtic, did you happen to notice the new thread I started in the goose forum? Pete and I are going to set eggs together on Wednesday. :D. Plus, I posted pic of the Toulouse parents.

Hi everyone! I'm joining this thread, as it seems the place to go for continuous advice/encouragement. My ancona eggs are at the end of day 28 and I haven't seen any of them wiggle all day. I'm sitting right next to the bator, going through boxes, so I'm keeping a really close eye on them. 5 of the 6 stopped rocking about 2 days ago. The other was rocking late last night, but I haven't seen anything at all today. I want to POKE HOLES in ALL OF THEM so they can BREATHE!! I don't see any movement in them at all, anymore and I'm VERY, VERY worried!!

Welcome LaLoca !

My temp is about 98 and humidity is a little questionable. I have 2 hygrometers in there. One says 75% and the other says 50%, so I'm guessing it's somewhere in between?? They're in a hovabator, btw.

I think your temp and humidity are too low. I'd keep the temp at 99.5 - 100, and the humidity outght to be at 80% for duckies. I mist my eggs the last three days with WARM water am and pm. It works for me, becasue our humidity here in KS is about 22% right now. Its hard on eggs.

Id give them an extra day, since your temps are low, and try to get the humidity up ASAP, warm wet sponges to the corner, warm mist (mist, not DROWN) Mama ducks swim and come and sit, you should mimic that, IMO.

Thanks for answering everyone! Incubation temp was 100, give or take 1 degree, with humidity ranging from 40 to 50. Hatch temp is at 98, with humidity somewhere between 50 and 75% (those are the 2 readings on the hygrometers in there). Bator is still-air hovabator. I did a quick candle under a very heavy blanket, so there was no loss of temp or humidity, and didn't see any obvious activity. Thursday night, they were all wiggling around. Friday night, only a couple of them, and only 1 last night. Now there's nothing.
