So, quacker and quackers are both hatching bators of cheepers and quackers??? Just checking.

So I went to 5 different feed stores and ALL were sold out of ducks except one where the ducklings looked sickly.

Best to stay away from the sickly babies. My pity purchase from last year caused me more trouble than it was worth.

the person i got my eggs from for this batch just offered to send me a few more

since half the batch was broken in the mail! i love how kind hearted some people can be

I can send you mixed peacock eggs. (the breed, not shaken eggs!) Of course, it'll be another month or two. (The zoo peacocks sometimes get out, and make nests at my husbands other house, since its backyard is against the peacock paddock.) I gave my mom about 8 last year. Since they were out again yesterday, I'd say this year ain't looking too shabby either! I even told the zoo guy, but he didn't care. Said I could take them if they were off the zoo property!

That's awesome! I'd love to hatch a couple peacocks, but I have no idea what I'd do with them then. Sneak out to the farm and put them quietly in the chicken house?

Whats with you, and chicks piping at the wrong end?

OK, pip is when the baby breaks through the membrane, and external pip is when they break through the shell. and zip/ziping is when they start REALLY hatching... do i have this right?

Internal pipping: pip through the air cell
External pipping: made a hole in the shell
Zip: going around in the circle.
Popping out!!

And what is up with the wrong end thing?!?!?

That's what I was afraid of. I felt sorry for them but have way to many animals to take a chance of spreading any diseases.

Just got home, looked in the bator and I've already got 4 of 5 chickies externally pipped! It's day 19!!!

Yay!! I love it when that happens!
