Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

QJ, I am so so sorry the second didn't make it.
Be careful with that CL ad, they stole photos from online (one being a friend of mine) and admit in the ad they are photos from the Internet. Personally if someone won't show their birds, then they aren't worth trusting to buy from. I be
Ieve Kansaskid here on BYC has a small flock of Sebbie, see if they have eggs set to hatch soon. Atleast with them I know you wouldn't be ripped off.

I saw that right at the end where she said those were internet photos. I emailed her to feel her out.

Can they really be color sexed?

ETA: I forgot about Kansas Kid. Thanks for that reminder.

The color sexing was thought to be true, but last year a number of people had goslings that did not hold true for gender with their hatch color. Vent sexing and DNA are the 100% method.

The amount of fluid you mentioned sounds like too high of humidity, but then you had the first hatch fine. So it leaves me wondering what happened. Our first of the year was gooey before he broke the vein. Gooey hatchling is usually too high of humidity, but I had ran it at 30-35 until lockdown. So no way to really know.

Deffinetly check with KansasKid, join the Sebbie forum too and post a looking for ad there. It's a good place to learn and find others more local to you. Plus Pete and CottageRose are both are there and a wealth of knowledge.

I was thinking too high humidity too. But then like you said the other hatched, and 9 javas all at the same time..

This sucks.

This one was always a concern of mine. Call it Goosey ESP if you want, but it was never as active or grew as fast as the other one.

It is what it is I guess.

It did get it's head out though. Right before it went to goosey heaven.

QJ, I totally get that... I too was worried about the two goosie eggs that did not hatch for me. You can tell which ones are going strong into lockdown and which ones aren't.

Here's the response I got from the ad:

"the females will have grey on there head and back the males will have gray on the back or they will be all yellow
most of mine will be hatching around the end of the month but i am getting eggs every day."

I'm doing a cross reference on his name and see what I can did up. LOL.

Hubby just called me from Home Depot to ask about what kind of wire to get! Isn't it funny how when something dies of mine, he wants to build me something? I think he feels bad for me. Too sweet.
