Help! I have a duck that was shrink wrapped and I tried to help it out and started to see a little blood..what do I do???

Cass, stop helping, apply light pressure to stop the bleeds. Use a q tip dipped in warm water to moisten the membrane and make sure the nares are free so it can breath. Put the egg back in the bator. Wait at least 30 min to 1 hour. Check on the duckling again and proceed to help again. STOP again if there is blood. Wet q tips are great for loosening the membrane and freeing the bill and nares so they can breath.

so sorry about your bator! btw i was never able to really pick-up any noises with the steth even though i could see eggs working, so your egg/s may be ok

I successfully assisted 2 of my welshies in hatching! and if the sexing by beak color really works it looks like i have 3 girls in my bator and i will have to check again but 1 boy in the brooder right now

They turned 3 weeks wednesday.

they are big!

The teenagers have successfully made it to the coop! (sigh of relief)

Of course I made a partition to separate the big girls from them. But they are in chicken heaven right now taking dirt baths.

Also was able to move the toddlers in the dog crate and position it so they can see the teenagers. Then hopefully next week they can all co-exist.
