OKAY its official Chukar Partidge is YUMMY YUMMY

Just fried one up, the meat is almost sweet & sugary like but tastes like a cross between turkey & chicken. BUT really tender & juicy!
Yep today is the day to downsize my chukars & guineas

Still NOT even close to Guinea!

its all in the way they are bred.
same as all the other methods of sexing.
not every bird will fall into the rule.
and more and more birds are not following the rule.

yay!!! they are pure, both her silver and gold phase are laying so maybe if i am lucky i will get a couple of each

Then yes, you probably do have all females, since her birds are from holderreads, and she has great luck with bill sexing. I hear that all people that get their ducks their have good luck with bill sexing.

Jaz - I've wondered about partridge. Hmmm... Put some quail in lockdown, but the eggs seemed a bit light.

Heres a pic of some of the eggs on top of my piano, all came in today or yesterday. I have more comping next week.

There are 13 turkey eggs, 4 goose eggs (one shown, and sebbie eggs due next week early), 7 E=Old English Game bantem (silky due next week), 9 button quail, and 13 muscovey ducks.

I got an egg from the layers today!!! First one in 3 weeks! I hope whoever it is continues. She must like her new run!

I also have the teenagers in a cage beside the big girls... debating on mingling them and seeing what happens.. but my inner chicken is telling me to wait.

My girls gave me four eggs today after giving me three yesterday! Less freeloading going on by the day.

Hubby called me at work to comment on all the "duck porn" going on in the backyard. Yay! Fertile eggs!!!

QJ, if it fully zipped I would be pulling the egg and lifting the shell off. He may have just gotten twisted while zipping.

I've got a backwards duck. Or kinda backwards. It pipped, but it looks like it's going back toward the pointy end. I had to chip away a lot of shell to find its beak at all. I want to help it more, but I accidentally tore the membrane a bit and it bled. I'm leaving the little booger alone for now, but I'm scared for it.
