Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Squishy is an Embden. I had a pair and he was REALLY mean ( I can't free range) so I found a better home for that pair but kept some eggs.

Daughter named him after Finding Nemo...

Hubby wants to know where you found the water weasil, we've been looking around here but nothing

hi SM, how are you feeling? thats a LOT of eggs you have Marty!

Hi PSue. Feeling good. Nervous about Monday but ok I guess. I might go ride my horse tomorrow since it is going to be nice out.

How are you doing and what do you have hatching now?

Lets home some hatch. I got spoiled by lots of good hatches from my eggs, but now that we are expanding, and Im buying more ebay eggs than just quail, my hatches are in the trash last 2. (sigh) I went out and bought several new thermometers today, and tested them, and set each perfect one with some others, to see what they are reading nwo.

Bought a water weasil to use for hatching accuracy. (helps give inside egg temps)

so... What is squishy??
what is a water weasil?

officeplayground.com has the 2" ones (perfect!) for .99/ea. I just bought two (glitter and star) ones, plus shipping, for under $8. I actually got mad and went looking for them again tonight. I havn't used one in like forever! Great way to know what the temp of eggs really is on the inside though!

Water Snake Wigglies - 2 inch, Beads & Glitter
here is the part number and their discription.....

I'm good thank you. hope your weather is as good as it is down here. I'm an hour or so from QJ. Riding sounds like fun... I haven't been on a horse in years.
Currently I have one Embden (Squishy) that has internally pipped. It's my first ever hatching egg so I'm kinda excited!
then I have a batch of 4 Embden, then a single Embden then a batch of 2 Pilgrim and my last Embden

A water weasil is a kids toy that is basically a water filled tube - looks like a sex ed traing tool for how girls work - but if you get the two inch one, you can stick an accurate thermometer inside of it (its a lot like an egg that way, except its got a hole). If you use it thus, it will tell you what the interior temperature of your eggs in your bator are. Its far more accurate than any exposed thermometer is. If the one in the water weasil says your at 99.5, you are golden, and whatever the temp fluctuatioins of the bator, you'll always have that important egg center temp. When I used them, my hatches rock. Kids broke mine this last year, and I havn't bothered. Getting only 4 quail and 1 turkey convinced me to go buy some again.
