Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

When can I combine ducks and a goosling? The ducks hatched Monday and the goose internally pipped tonight. should I move all the ducks into the next brooder and have the little goose by itself for a few days?

Man just when I thought it couldn't get any yummier !

Fried Parsnips in roasted garlic oil
Pepper
Seasoing salt
1/2 a Ceasar salad dressing packet
cook fast to brown & just before tender

THEN !

Took 5 chuckar breasts (can use quail too)
Rolled in the garlic oil

(coating)
Flour
pepper
seasoning salt
SPECIAL ARABIC Honey Rub (honey, salt, sugar, cumin, white pepper, coriander, onion, tumeric, cayenne, vanilla bean)

Rolled the chuckar in it ~ & fried it with the parsnips ~ then put over Jasmine or Basmati Rice

Were the partridge the same size and cleaning effort as quail? Which variety did you raise? I've actually been thinking about them and pidgeon both! I'm either a gourmet or a hick! LOL

hubby likes pidgen tacos... I've never tried it

My computer is going so slow today I've given up posting, but am trying to stay caught up. My silkie x that stopped being broody after spring cleaning the coop has been back on her nest so I gave her 4 EE eggs today. A few less for me to turn. I let the goslings and ducklings out for a little bit today to eat some grass. The ducklings follow the geese like they are their mommas so at least it's easy to keep them all rounded up. They loved it, geese pigged out on some grass.

just checked the babies (WH) and i am pretty sure all 4 are girls if the beak color sexing holds true

although i wouldn't mind a drake the are so gorgeous! i will try to post pics later, the kids posted the dang batteries on me again

, 2 of them are in the baby section and 2 are in the bator fluffing up

WH can only be bill sexed if the drake was gold and females silver. Most hatcheries including holdderreads use this I believe, but then the babies are mixed silver/gold and color sexing no longer works on future generations. It's also only around 90% accurate, and must be done within the first 2 days I think.

Jaz - I've wondered about partridge. Hmmm... Put some quail in lockdown, but the eggs seemed a bit light.

Heres a pic of some of the eggs on top of my piano, all came in today or yesterday. I have more comping next week.

There are 13 turkey eggs, 4 goose eggs (one shown, and sebbie eggs due next week early), 7 E=Old English Game bantem (silky due next week), 9 button quail, and 13 muscovey ducks.

Wow, that's a lot of eggs. Of course I'm not one to talk. I'm hoping I have some more tomorrow.

Cute, love the diving for peas. Mine love them but haven't figured out how to get them out of the water yet.

Yum! I want to hatch chukar and try them next. There's someone close who wants to split and order of eggs/chicks, so I need to get a grow out chukar pen built. How much sq feet do they need for growing out? Are you keeping any of yours for future breeders?
